You enter a sunny landing with doorways leading left and right and a tall clock in the corner. Side stairs lead up to the attic and green stairs lead back down to the hallway. There is lots of room to sail paper airplanes!

Challenge: Your challenge is to build an airplane that flies, using only the materials provided.

Time: You will have four minutes to design, build and test-fly an airplane and one minutes to fly it for points. You may have as many test flights as you wish, as long as time remains. You will only be scored on your last attempt.

The Scene: Your unit of the Civil Air Patrol had worked for weeks on constructing airplanes for a competition. When you arrived at the competition, you found out that you must construct the airplanes during the competition.

Items to Use in Your Presentation:

2 sheets of paper (8.5 x 11.5)
scissors (may not be part of the final structure)
6 mailing labels
2 rubber bands
5 paperclips
one paper sack (lunch size)
one plastic sack (grocery size)
one 12" piece of string
two small binder clips
3 straws

Scoring:
You will receive:
1-20 points for the creativity of the design of the plane
2 points for each type of material used (up to 20 points)
1-20 for the overall creativity of the use of materials
2 points for each foot traveled, until plane stops moving
1-20 points for teamwork
